OpenAI announced more than 20 new products and features at its DevDay 2026 event in San Francisco on Tuesday. Most of the launches focus on AI agents that take actions on their own and keep working after users log off.
The event came one day after OpenAI pulled its next flagship model, GPT-6.1 Astra, because it did not meet safety standards. CEO Sam Altman told CNBC the company would address that model later.
Dots Bring Always-On AI Agents
The main launch was dots, a type of AI agent that runs all the time. Each dot is powered by GPT-6 Astra, OpenAI's flagship model, and gets its own cloud computer and web browser.
Dots can connect to more than 4,000 apps and learn user preferences from feedback. Users can reach them in ChatGPT, by voice call, or in Slack and Teams. Texting support is coming soon.
OpenAI said dots follow built-in rules about when to act alone. Tasks such as changing a password always stay with the human user.
The first dot is included with Pro and Business Premium plans in eligible markets. Free and Plus users do not get access.
OpenAI also launched ChatGPT Space, a shared workspace where people and their dots use the same project files. It includes Pages, a document type that humans and agents can edit together.
New Models and Pricing Tiers
GPT-6.1 Sol arrived one week after GPT-6 Sol. OpenAI said it nearly matches GPT-6 Astra on coding, computer use, and professional work at one-fifth of Astra's token prices.
Sol is live in the API and in ChatGPT Work and Codex for Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise, and Edu users.
The company also introduced Ultrafast, a premium speed tier. It generates tokens up to 8x faster in Codex, or about 300 tokens per second, and up to 6x faster in the API. Users pay up to 6x the normal price.
Astra Ultrafast is available now on the $500-a-month Pro 500 plan and on Enterprise plans. A live demo of Ultrafast failed several times on stage.
Other launches included Codex Security Cloud, which scans GitHub code for bugs and prepares fixes. OpenAI also made the Codex harness, the software that powers dots, open source.
The Agents API now supports computer use, letting AI click, type, and move through software like a person. OpenAI also announced Bedrock Managed Agents with Amazon, which runs OpenAI agents inside Amazon Web Services.
For companies with sensitive data, OpenAI introduced Private Intelligence. It pairs zero data retention with automated safety checks that OpenAI staff do not see.
A new Sign in with ChatGPT feature lets users spend their plan allowance inside 16 partner tools, including Notion and Vercel. OpenAI Marketplace lets enterprise customers apply existing spending toward software from 32 partners, including Adobe, Salesforce, and CrowdStrike.
Looking ahead, the Decisions API, which uses OpenAI's cheapest model, Luna, to answer fixed-choice questions, will get a broad release in the coming days. GPT-6.1 Sol Ultrafast is expected soon after, and a Private Inference preview is set to arrive this fall.
