Meta founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg published a new plan for the company's artificial intelligence strategy on Monday.
The document, titled The Future is for Everyone, lays out his vision for what he calls "personal superintelligence."
Zuckerberg wants Meta to give AI agents to billions of people for free, rather than selling AI tools mainly to businesses.
He compared AI infrastructure to past technologies like railroads and electricity, saying it could help build up smaller communities.
In his post, Zuckerberg described an AI agent that could work around the clock on tasks like health, career planning, and home projects.
He gave examples from his own life, including an agent that tracks his sleep and helps plan meals for his family.
He also described his eight-year-old daughter using AI tools to write code and make videos.
New Model Released the Same Day
Hours before the essay was published, Meta's AI research group released a new model called Muse Glimmer.
The model has 30 billion parameters and is small enough to run on a laptop or desktop computer with one graphics card.
Meta compressed the model's file size to less than 20 gigabytes so it can run without needing a large data center.
The company said this compression caused little to no drop in performance on task-based work.
According to Meta's own testing, Glimmer performed better than two competing models, Gemma4-31B and Qwen3.6-27B, on a benchmark called MCP Atlas.
Meta has not yet released results from outside testing groups to confirm these numbers.
Zuckerberg said weights for another model, called Muse Spark 2.1, will be released in the coming weeks.
Spending Plans and Pricing Questions
Meta has increased how much money it plans to spend on AI this year.
The company narrowed its 2026 spending guidance to between $130 billion and $145 billion on July 29.
In the second quarter alone, Meta reported $31.08 billion in capital spending.
Free cash flow for the quarter was $784 million, down from $8.55 billion in the same quarter last year.
Zuckerberg's plan includes a pricing system he calls a "dynamic auction," which he says will give people the lowest price for the AI services they use.
The company has not yet said how this pricing system will work or what unit it will be measured in.
Meta also said its independent board of directors will now have the power to approve safety rules for new AI model releases.
The company is asking other AI labs to adopt a similar review process.
As part of its community commitments, Meta pointed to a data center in Richland Parish, Louisiana.
Zuckerberg said teachers in that area received a $50,000 bonus this year, funded by local tax revenue from the data center.
Meta also committed to restoring more water than it uses by 2030, including double the amount used in areas facing water shortages.
The Muse Glimmer model files are now available for download on Hugging Face, a platform for sharing AI models.
