Piney Raises €1.6 Million to Expand AI Rental Cleaning Platform

Piney, a company that handles cleaning and operations for short-term and mid-term rentals, has raised €1.6 million. The round was led by existing investor Uni.fund, with 33East also taking part.

Piney was founded in 2023 and is based in Cyprus. The company says it applies artificial intelligence to a corner of the travel industry that has traditionally relied on manual coordination between property managers and cleaning staff.

How Piney Uses AI

One example of this is quality control. The Piney platform reviews photos that cleaners submit after finishing a job. The system checks these images in real time and flags any issues before the cleaner leaves the property.

This is meant to catch problems early, rather than after a guest has already checked in and found something wrong.

Piney said the new funding will go toward further developing its platform and its AI tools. The company also plans to use the money to grow further within its current European markets.

Expanding Beyond Europe

Alongside the funding announcement, Piney said it has launched in Miami. This is the company's first market outside of Europe.

In a press release, the company called Florida a natural first step for its expansion outside Europe. It pointed to Miami as a city where professional property managers already operate at scale and need the kind of operational consistency Piney offers.

Nicolas Chrysostomou, founder and CEO of Piney, said the funding round reflects the progress the company has made so far. "This round is about taking what we've proven across Europe and bringing it to the world," he said.

Chrysostomou added that the number of properties Piney serves has grown fast. "In under two years we've almost quadrupled the properties we serve, and our technology, increasingly AI-driven, is what makes that pace possible," he said.

Sotiris Papantonopoulos, a partner at Uni.fund, also commented on the investment. He said Piney has grown in a disciplined way and built a product that property managers use every day.

"Piney has executed exactly as we hoped when we first backed them: disciplined growth, strong unit economics and a product property managers rely on daily," Papantonopoulos said. "Supporting their expansion beyond Europe was a natural next step."

Piney currently operates in six markets. These are Spain, Portugal, Greece, Cyprus, France, and now the United States.

This is not the first time Piney has raised outside funding. In December 2024, the company raised €1.2 million to expand its footprint across Europe.

That earlier round helped Piney grow its operations in the countries it was already active in. The new €1.6 million round is aimed at taking the business further, both by deepening its European presence and by testing new ground in the U.S.

The Miami launch is the most recent step in that plan. It gives Piney a foothold in a rental market the company describes as one of the largest and most active in the world.
