Daydream Launches Apple Intelligence Shopping Features For iOS 27

Daydream, an AI fashion discovery app, rolled out two new features on Monday. The features let iPhone users shop outfits from saved photos and search for clothing through Siri.

The company built both tools using Apple's iOS 27 developer kit, which became available the same day. Users need an iPhone running iOS 27 with Siri AI enabled to access the features.

The Daydream app itself is free to download on iOS devices.

How The Photo Shopping Feature Works

The first feature uses Apple's image-context tools. It lets people shop directly from photos already saved in their Photos app.

Daydream scans the outfit in a saved image and identifies each piece. It then matches those items to products in its catalog of about 3 million pieces.

This means a screenshot from Instagram or Pinterest can become a shopping search. Daydream breaks the photo down into items like a sweater, pants, shoes, or accessories.

If the exact item is still sold, Daydream links back to the retailer carrying it. If it's out of stock, the app shows similar options instead.

The app can also handle follow-up requests. Julie Bornstein, co-founder and chief executive of Daydream, told TechCrunch that users can ask for changes, like wanting a sweater in a different color.

Siri Search Adds A Second Way To Shop

The second feature lets users search Daydream through Siri using voice or text. This works without opening the Daydream app at all.

A person could ask Siri to find a blazer for a work meeting, and Daydream would return results based on that request. The results become more personalized if a user has filled out Daydream's Style Passport.

The Style Passport asks for details like sizing, preferred brands, personal style, and budget, according to Bornstein.

Daydream joins a growing list of AI shopping tools. Google and Amazon have both released similar visual search products in the past year.

Smaller companies, including Onton and Alta, are also building tools in the same space. Bornstein said she believes Daydream's fashion focus sets it apart from these competitors.

She said many visual search tools lack fashion expertise, which can lead to results from less credible brands or links that aren't shoppable.

Daydream sees these two new features as part of a bigger plan. The company wants to eventually build a shopping agent that understands a person's style across every part of their life.

Bornstein said the company plans to keep building on-device intelligence tools. She said the goal is to reach people during the everyday moments when they're already discovering things they want to buy.

Daydream launched its app last year. The company says it now has more than 1.5 million shoppers using the platform.

Its catalog includes retailers such as Anthropologie, Dolce & Gabbana, Uniqlo, J.Crew, Reformation, Gucci, and Nordstrom, spanning more than 325 retailers and 10,000 brands total.

Both new features are available starting Monday for users who meet the iOS 27 and Siri AI requirements.
